Advanced Open Water Diver

Open Water Diver training is designed to give you the basic knowledge and skills needed to explore the underwater environment. Specialty training takes you beyond those basic skills and prepares you to dive in a variety of situations and conditions, while increasing your confidence, making you a more comfortable and safe diver. New skills such as underwater photography, deep diving or night diving, broaden your diving experience, increase your appreciation for the underwater world, and are a whole lot of fun! Learn these skills with safety and confidence under the guidance of a professional Sonoma Coast Bamboo Reef Instructor.

Most Specialty Courses consist of a self-study text, short exam, and two dives in that specialty. Each individual specialty course is $75.00. The books for each specialty are usually $16.95 each. Kits with DVDs are also available.

SSI's Advanced Open Water Diver rating includes 4 Specialty Classes and a total of 24 logged dives. If you have already achieved the Specialty Diver rating (2 Specialties and 12 dives), you only need to complete 2 more specialties and 12 more dives to achieve the Advanced Open Water certification. Most specialties include 2 dives each. As in the Specialty Diver Program, the remaining dives needed to achieve your 24 dive requirement are completed by diving on your own, or joining us on one of our Fun Dives, Boat Dives, or by taking more Specialty Courses that interest you. The most popular Specialties for the Advanced Program are Deep Diving, Night/Limited Visibility Diving, Navigation, and Boat Diving. More specialties are listed below. The Advanced Diver course price is $135 plus books. The optional Advanced Diver Certification Card including up to 5 specialties and your total number of logged dives listed is $35.
